Durch cultural probes wurde das Problem des fehlenden Bewusstseins über Einflüsse der menschengemachten Lärmverschmutzung/-belästigung auf die Umwelt erkannt:

Lärmverschmutzung, z.B. durch Kfz, Menschenmassen, etc. hat gesundheitliche und ökologische Auswirkungen und betrifft somit Menschen und nicht-menschliche Lebewesen gleichermaßen. Abhängig von Region und Tageszeit kann es zur permanenten Lärmverschmutzung kommen und/oder zeitweise zu Phasen, in denen es besonders laut ist. Uns Menschen ist es jedoch kaum bis gar nicht bewusst, dass und vor allem welchen Einfluss wir mit selbstgeneriertem Lärm auf unsere Umwelt haben.
